Fox Glacier, South Island New Zealand

There are two major glaciers in the area, Franz Josef Glacier, named after the Emperor of Austria in the 1800s and Fox Glacier, named after the second Premier of New Zealand, William Fox. In recent years the glacier has receded so much due to global warming that you can only access the glaciers by helicopter - a thrilling ride!
